The lady swayed in her seat, and murmured \u201cAmen, Amen\u201d from time to time.  But when the parson hit on the subject of snuff-taking, the lady sat bolt-upright and said, \u201cNow he\u2019s left preaching and taken to meddling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>=======================<br \/>\nAnother version by Michael DeRosa:<\/p>\n<p>Two elderly, excited, Southern women were sitting together in the front pew of church listening to a fiery preacher.<\/p>\n<p>When this preacher condemned the sin of stealing, these two ladies cried out at the tops of their lungs, \u201cAMEN, BROTHER!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the preacher condemned the sin of lust, they yelled again, \u201cPREACH IT, REVEREND!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And when the preacher condemned the sin of lying, they jumped to their feet and screamed, \u201cRIGHT ON, BROTHER!  TELL IT LIKE IT IS&#8230;  AMEN!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when the preacher condemned the sin of gossip, the two got very quiet.
