But while he doesn\u2019t describe himself as an atheist, the popular commentator said that he has a \u201ccomplicated notion of the deity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was once a philosopher who said, \u2018I don\u2019t believe in God, but I fear him greatly.\u2019  That\u2019s about where I am,\u201d he told the outlet.  \u201cI\u2019ve had a fairly difficult and complicated notion of the deity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Krauthammer added that Albert Einstein\u2019s concept of God most resonates with him.  He said that Einstein\u2019s idea was \u201ca recognition and an awe before the mystery of the order and beauty of the universe, which would imply that there is something very mysterious and very awesome \u2014 awe-inspiring \u2014 about the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is certainly very different from the theological views expressed by mainstream faith groups, which generally have specific and codified interpretations of both God and creation.<\/p>\n<p>Krauthammer drove home the point that he believes life\u2019s complexities are vast and that he is ill-equipped to definitively know what\u2019s out there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel the way that I think Newton once said.  I feel like a snail on the side of a great ocean and the idea that I can understand a notion like God or humans can as if we\u2019re expecting a snail to understand the motion of the tides through calculus and physics,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Krauthammer added, \u201cThat\u2019s not possible.
