We happily sing, \u201cJoy to the World.\u201d As I select music for the choir every Christmas, I am aware of how many songs have \u201cJoy\u201d in the title or somewhere in the text. The theme of joy seems to permeate this season, but for the child of God, it should not be a seasonal thing. It should be an every day life style. In all our busyness, maybe between the carols we should stick a verse of the old hymn, \u201cTake Time to Be Holy.\u201d<\/p>\n
So, what is joy? I asked Betty for her definition, and she said, \u201cIt\u2019s a deep contentment.\u201d I like that! We often relate joy to laughter and hilarity, but it goes much deeper than that. Laughter is temporary, but joy is lasting when it is based on our relationship with God. Joy says, \u201cEarthly things may not be the greatest for me, but my soul is happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
What can each of us do to share our joy with others? The list is endless, but \u201ckindness\u201d is a good starting point. I just had a major problem with an online purchase, but I finally found a supervisor who had kindness and wisdom beyond her years. Her kind attitude made a difficult situation tolerable. It\u2019s amazing what kindness can do.<\/p>\n
Psalm 145:17 (NLT) says, \u201cThe Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness.\u201d If we are Godly people, we too will be filled with kindness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
