Turns out that the San Francisco 49ers, who pounded the Denver Broncos 55-10 in 1990, didn\u2019t produce the biggest blowout in Super Bowl history after all.<\/p>\n
No, that distinction now belongs to the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, whose members voted 67-10 this month to oust Rev. Stanley B. Hall Sr. Hall sparked a furor by scheduling a consecration service at the Birmingham, Ala., church that coincided with the kickoff of the NFL\u2019s Jan. 26 title game.<\/p>\n
Hall defrocked the six trustees and deacons who failed to attend the service. Church members, enraged, then voted overwhelmingly to boot Hall, who is trying to block his ouster in court.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn even more shocking aspect of the deacons\u2019 decision,\u201d said Randy Turner of the Winnipeg Free Press , \u201cVegas had the church listed as (only) four-point favorites.\u201d<\/p>\n
