Who’s Afraid…

Are you afraid? Of course not! I’m an adult, I’ve outgrown my fears. I’ve put away the fears that a child might have: I hope I don’t run into that bully on the way home from school. That movie was scary. This subject is too hard. What will happen if I don’t pass the test? The guys on the other team are really big! They are going to run all over us!

Yes, I have grown up from those childhood fears…. right into some very real adult ones: How can I ever make all these monthly payments? What will happen if I don’t? Will my kids be OK as they make their way in the world? How is my health? Will my insurance cover any problems? Will I have enough to live on when I retire?

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:10

The Bible never says that life will not be fearful. But God does command: “Do not fear.” He can give us this command because he also gives us two promises: I am your God” and “I am with you.”

And the knowledge of the presence of the all powerful God in our life will cast out fear, and put in its place the opposite of fear: peace.

We all have things in our lives that could cause fear. Remember today the promises God has made: He is your God, and He is with you, always.
