USA Today carried an article on broadcaster Pat Summerall. The article spoke of his career and his recovery from alcoholism. He had the opportunity to visit with Mickey Mantle while Mantle was on his deathbed. Mantle asked Summerall about baptism and just a few days before his death was baptized. Summerall himself was baptized last April and described it this way. “It’s beyond my capability to describe. It was the most helpless feeling I’ve had. And the most invigorating.”
