When you lend someone $20 and then never see that person again, it may have been worth it!
Surely you know the Spiritual called, “Nobody Knows the Trouble I See.” Perhaps that song describes what you are facing today. It could be something so deep that you can’t even share it with your closest friend. You feel like you have no one to turn to — no one with whom you can share your burden. It hurts, doesn’t it?
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, there is someone with whom you can share it. I’m sure that right now you feel it isn’t the same as having a living caring friend right next to you, but in your own privacy you can pour out your heart to God knowing that He hears your cry. Don’t be upset if a miracle doesn’t happen but expect one. Remember, you and God are a majority, but also remember that in a partnership each partner has to pull his fair share of the load. Solving your problem may involve some hard decisions and difficult actions on your part.
The wise book of Proverbs say this in 18:24, “A person who has friends must first show himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” For you, that friend is Jesus Christ. It is through Him that you plead your case to God.
THE SERENITY PRAYER
God grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with Him in the next.
Amen
