In 1957 Antonio Sanchez-Migallon lost his eyesight because of a chemical accident. He got on with his life and got married and had kids. But 43 years later a doctor found a way to restore his sight. He was able to see four of his kids and all 22 of his grandchildren. He was able to see his wife’s face.
He liked everything he saw except for the image in the mirror. He said, “I thought I would look better. I look really ugly and old!” [1]
It is different when Jesus restores our sight. He helps us to see ourselves as we will be – cleansed and glorified – and not as we are now. All of us look ugly and decrepit in our old nature but God has better things in store for us through a relationship with Jesus.
