How can you hold on to faith when God seems silent?

I. Admitting our helplessness.
A. It is not easy to trust God in times of adversity.
1) Choose to be helped.
2) Realize it is sinful to wallow in self-pity.
3) Turn to the Lord.
a) Through choice, prayer, Bible.
B. Trust and pain.
1) Trusting God does not mean we do not experience pain.
2) We believe God can use pain for our ultimate good.
3) Do not let distrustful and hard thoughts control our minds.

II. Our trustworthy God.
A. The Bible has many promises of his constant care for us.
1) Heb 13:5. (five negatives)
2) We may lose sense of his help, but not the reality.
3) He is with us through deep waters and the fire. Isa 43:2
B. Cast all your cares on him. 1 Pet 5:7
1) His care is constant.
a) Not occasional or sporadic.
2) His care is total.
a) The very hairs of our head are numbered. Matt 10:30
3) His care is sovereign.
a) Nothing can touch you that he does not allow.

III. Perfecting our trust.
A. Trusting in plenty.
B. Trusting the source. Prov 18:10-11
C. Trusting through the ordinary.
