Jesus’ death is central to the church, to the apostles and to Jesus himself. Jesus knew he would have to die because of:
1. Hostility of Jewish national leaders.
2. Prophecies in Scripture (though they are not many).
3. Jesus’ own deliberate choice (not martyr complex, but obedience to
Father).
